Early last year Amherst Partners established an affiliate relationship with Localeze, a provider of "certified" business data to more than 100 local search providers across the Internet. Since that time, the importance of claiming and maintaining your business data as it appears in these local search providers has continued to increase. With this exponential increase in mobile searches, making certain your business information is accurate couldn't be more important.
Most mobile searches are done with the intention of immediately contacting a business or service being searched for. Think about it, a person that is on the road using their in-vehicle GPS or their smart-phone to search for a business or service is typically looking to visit that business or service within the next few hours - or sooner. If your business information isn't in these local search providers' databases, you loose a potential customer.

We have built sites using the osCommerce Open Source tools, the Virtuemart Joomla Component and extensions, and now the Ecwid hosted online storefront service. You may, or may not, have heard about the Protect-IP (PIPA) and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) currently under consideration in Congress. If passed, one of the many things SOPA requires is that Web hosting companies police websites in order to prevent them from communicating copyrighted information on the Internet. Consequently, I would like to take this opportunity make sure you are aware of Amherst Partner's position on SOPA.

Every year around the holidays as both brick & mortar and online sales increase so does the occurrence of various online scams. I've probably received at least 2 dozen scam email messages over the past few weeks informing me about my winning free items of all sorts - all I have to do is "click here" to receive my prize. Have you ever heard the saying - if it sounds too good to be true it usually is? Well this is most certainly the case here - DON'T click on any of those links - 99.9% of the time they are scams.
